For those of you who have not been to or fished the Vero Beach/ Fort Pierce area, there are many species of fish that inhabit the Indian River Lagoon's waters year round and some seasonally. A peek into the photo galleries will show the diversity of species that are available and the sizes they may attain.
Some of the more popular species caught in the Vero Beach & Fort Pierce areas are SNOOK, TARPON, JACK CREVALLE, GROUPER, SNAPPER, REDFISH, SEA TROUT, FLOUNDER, TRIPLETAIL, COBIA, AND PERMIT. But let's not forget about POMPANO(my favorite at the dinner table), SHEEPSHEAD, LADYFISH, SEABASS, TRIGGERFISH, FALSE ALBACORE, SPANISH MACKEREL, CERO MACKEREL, KING MACKEREL AND MORE.
Some species have very limited diets and are caught using a limited number of lures or live bait. But . . . all of these species listed above, can be caught using live shrimp. The tackle shops in our area get live shrimp deliveries from suppliers almost every day of the week.
